The object of the puzzle is to remove all the marbles from the playing board, except for the last marble which must end up in the centre hole.

Marbles can only be removed in the following method:

Jump a marble from its space, over one other marble into an empty space beyond. The marble which has been ‘jumped over’ is then removed. Each jump can only be made in either a vertical or horizontal direction.
